Moab in 2 Days: An Intermediate Weekend
A two-day weekend that skips the shuttle logistics entirely. Day one is the Slickrock Trail, the ride that made Moab famous, with a flow lap to finish. Day two heads north to Klondike for slickrock tech and Dino Flow. Base near Sand Flats and you barely touch the highway.
The plan
A no-shuttle Moab weekend pairing the Slickrock Trail with Klondike's tech and flow.
Slickrock Saturday
Morning: Start on the Slickrock Trail while it is cool. ride the Practice Loop, then the 10.6-mile main loop clockwise, following the white dashes and staying off the biological soil crust between domes.
Afternoon: Add a flow lap on Falcon Flow / Raptor Route over on Sand Flats Road. the Falcon Climb makes it a self-contained loop, so no shuttle needed.
Eats: Post-ride beers and the patio at Moab Brewery.
Klondike tech and flow
Morning: Drive north to the Klondike Bluffs area and ride EKG out, Dino Flow back, about 11 miles of up-and-down slickrock tech and desert flow. EKG is the technical one, so warm up before the ledges.
Afternoon: Wrap up, rinse the bike, and point the car home.
Eats: Pre-ride coffee and a green chile breakfast burrito at Love Muffin Cafe before you drive out to Klondike.
Pro tips
- •Both days are self-contained with no shuttle. base near Sand Flats so Slickrock and Falcon Flow are a 5 to 10 minute drive.
- •Klondike and Sand Flats dry out early and have zero shade. start at first light in summer to stay ahead of the heat.
- •The condo has patio bike storage and a hot tub, which is exactly what two slickrock days call for.
This is a proven template. The planner will tune it to your days, skill, and what you want to ride in about ten seconds.
